What is a CAC?

Becoming a Certified Aquascape Contractor (CAC) is not an easy task. Aquascape has a CAC review board that carefully scrutinizes each contractor that applies to be part of this elite group. A contractor must submit both written and pictorial information regarding the quality of work done. In addition, if a contractor is awarded CAC status, each year the business must work to maintain its status through the building of quality water features as well as continuing education in the industry and how to run a quality business. So when you hire a CAC to install or maintain your water feature, you can be sure that you are hiring the best in the water gardening industry. For more information, you can go to our Web site or visit the CAC Web site.

Winter has Arrived!

Across the country no one seems to be getting spared Old Man Winter's wrath! But, what does that mean for your fish? If you have kept your pond running, even if it freezes, there should still be enough circulation to keep an opening in the ice. If it has frozen over and it's been a few days, toxic gases could build up and harm your fish. Try opening a hole with hot water or a tea kettle in a pinch. In winter, your fish will automatically find a nice spot near the bottom and slow down their body's metabolism and enter into a state of hibernation. Once your water temperature warms up, they'll be active again and ready for Spring! You can find more information on fish care on our Web site or visit www.KoiVet.com.

Valentine's Day Romance

This is a great time to enjoy your pond! Whether you're experiencing a dull winter pond or an icy winter pond, light it up (and light up your night) with candles! Try picking up some inexpensive red or pink candles in a variety of sizes and placing them in small groups around your feature. Three or four candles on the top (or on the side) of your waterfall, and another group on a sitting rock or at a great focal point by your pond will add just the right amount of romance for some time with your sweetie!
